According to CoinTelegraph’s recent research annual NFT sale volume has reached 18 billion $ in 2021. The trend took over millions of people and resulted into millions of non-fungible tokens being sold and bought. Let’s make a quick review of specific types of NFT, that were the most influential last year.
Celebrity NFTs
Trying to hop on the hype train, famous people started launching their personal non-fungible tokens one after another. Kevin Durant’s Thirty Five Ventures firm and Coinbase collaboration, Paris Hilton and Blake Kathryn NFT drop, Mike Tyson’s work with Cory Van Lew, Snoop Dogg’s 3D collage, Ozzy Osbourne’s 9.6k bats and even the infamous Tarantino Pulp fiction tokens, he was sued for short time after.
All those NFTs attracted many people to the world of non-fungible tokens and tokens overall, making the gas prices hop up and communities grow significantly.
P2E games
A gamer’s dream was to earn real money, while they spend hours playing games in front of their PC. Well, blockchain made that possible and opened the gates of P2E games, giving you crypto for being an active player or claiming some in-game achievements.
Some games even use duel mechanics for exchanging tokens between the players. People, who play Axie Infinity have creatures called Axies as their characters and they are all unique NFTs, that can be breeded inside the game and then bought or sold on the Ethereum blockchain.
Metaverse NFT
Metaverses have become a staple in the crypto-market with people going mad about land in such digital worlds and buying it.
All that hype resulted in multiple important for the crypto-community events. Facebook is changing it’s name to Meta, Nike launching it’s first NFT shoes collection, buying out RTKFT and starting up it’s own NikeLand in Roblox as well as other brands like Tommy Hilfiger and Polo Ralph Lauren bringing their clothing into the same game.
Charity NFT
Good people will always do good things and in this case they are doing them once again. Implementing crypto as a currency available for donation is surely a step forward, but it is also a two-way deal because of how many cryptoenthusiasts are willing to help the ones in need. However, NFT auctions have reached the top point of generosity.
For example, the funding platform Orica in partnership with NGO helped build a school in Uganda and was Sotheby’s launched a whole auction aiming at helping the frontline public health workers. Furthermore, there are plans of launching a full-on platform, that will help nonprofit artists with mental illnesses.
World art NFT
With all that profit chase we totally forgot the original intensions of art - to amuse and inspire.
That’s where NFT comes in, letting artists show and sell their art to millions of users all the around the world with no need to travel somewhere and spend money on transportations.
Two of the biggest organistions, aiming at supporting local creators are the Melanated NFT gallery, that is all about African culture and artists from Africa and the Mongol NFTs, representing the artists from the northern Mongolia.
This was a mind-blowing year for NFT, but everything has an ending and we suppose that the era of billion weekly sales ends with 2021. We were devastated by the market situation, that’s why we decided to make a pivot and redirect our project into the much more wide and open crypto market overall. However, we still love NFT and are sure that the technology has potential in selling items, attracting investments and acting as a key to private communities and DAOs. This is why our website still features an upcoming and released NFT section.
Hope you have a friendly experience here, cheers!
